Garden tour: Exploring our new flowerbed

We're thrilled to share our journey with the newest addition to our garden – the 2023 flowerbed!

In this post and video below, we'll take you through the transformation of our flowerbed, from its humble beginnings to its current lush state. So, let's dive in and discover the magic of our floral haven.

This year, we embarked on a gardening adventure, creating a flowerbed that has already started to captivate hearts and draw admiration. Situated in Denmark's Zone 8a, our flowerbed has flourished under the summer sun, and we can't wait to see how it continues to evolve in the years ahead.

Before the bloom: A glimpse into the past

Before we delve into the vibrant display of colors and textures that our flowerbed boasts today, let's rewind to its beginnings. Our flowerbed started as a blank canvas covered in grass, waiting to be brought to life when we took over this house in 2018.

We carefully planned its layout and selected a few pre-purchased plants to grace its center. However, the true magic lay in the perennials and annuals we nurtured from seeds and cuttings, patiently watching as they sprouted, grew, and transformed.

Our garden's stars

In this lush oasis, you'll find a diverse collection of plant varieties that have come together to create a symphony of colors and shapes.

From the elegant Limonium suwororwii to the vibrant Salvia viridis, and from the charming Heliopsis helianthoides 'Bleeding Heart' to the resilient Gaillardia, each plant contributes its unique essence to the overall composition.

The garden bed is also graced by the likes of Cosmos, Delphinium, Rudbeckia, Verbena, Echinacea, Calendula, Liatris, Physocarpus, Leucanthemum vulgare, Sedum, Scabiosa, Nepeta Catania, Antirrhinum, Allium senescens 'Millenium', Astrantia, Agastache foeniculum, Eschscholzia californica 'Rose Chiffon', Rudbeckia hirta, Centaurea jacea, and Polemonium 'Stairway to Heaven'.

Our flowerbed today

As the summer days passed, our flowerbed transformed into a tapestry of colors, heights, and scents. From the striking purples of Limonium suwororwii to the delicate beauty of the annual Salvia viridis, each plant has found its place in its new home.

The journey of growth and nurturing has culminated in display that fills our garden with life and vibrancy.
